Light and Magic: The Birth of Art Photography
Tate Modern · Natalie Bell Building, Level 3 · London · –
Tate describes it as the first major exhibition to explore pictorialism as a global movement, showing how photographers became pioneers of the darkroom. Over 200 rare prints by more than 80 artists, from Seoul to Sydney, New York to Cape Town and Brazil to Singapore, take a fresh look at the history of photography. Works illustrated on the exhibition page include Fan Ho's Smoky World (1959, M+) and Long Chin-San's Riverside Spring (1942).
