On Ink and Bamboo: The Hua-e Jiaohui Lou Donation
Hong Kong Museum of Art · Chinese Antiquities Gallery, 3/F · Hong Kong · –
Dr Kössen M. T. Ho has given the Hong Kong Museum of Art more than 340 items from the Hua-e Jiaohui Lou Collection, mainly modern bamboo carving alongside wood carving, painting and calligraphy, ink rubbings and textiles: the largest gift of bamboo carvings to a Hong Kong museum in forty years. Nearly 200 sets, many designed by Dr Ho himself, show designs taken from paintings and calligraphy, carved into bamboo and wood, and returned to paper as ink rubbings.
