Sen-oku Hakukokan Museum
Higashiyama-Shishigatani · Kyoto
Founded in 1960 to preserve and show art from the Sumitomo family collection, it takes its name from Izumiya, the family’s Edo-period trading name, and the Bogu tulu, a Song-dynasty catalogue of bronzes. The Sumitomo Collection of more than 3,500 works, including two National Treasures and 20 Important Cultural Properties, is best known for ancient Chinese bronzes, shown in the Bronze Gallery. A sister museum is in Roppongi, Tokyo. Closed in summer and winter.
