The guidance centre of the Nara Palace Site Historical Park, on Suzaku-mon Hiroba Square south of the reconstructed Suzaku Gate. A 1/200 model of the whole palace, large-screen films, a 1/5 structural model of the First Imperial Audience Hall and finds from the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties' continuing excavations introduce Heijō Palace, and the special exhibition room hosts the institute's seasonal shows. Free. About 20 minutes' walk from Kintetsu Yamato-Saidaiji Station (south exit) or Shin-Ōmiya Station, or by Nara Kotsu bus to Suzaku-mon Hiroba-mae.
