Okazaki · Kyoto
Opened in 1998 on the collection gathered by three generations of the Hosomi family, beginning with the businessman and collector Hosomi Kokoan (1901–79). It covers almost every field and period of Japanese art, from Shinto and Buddhist art and tea-ceremony wares to Edo painting by the Rinpa school and Itō Jakuchū. There is no permanent display; the collection appears in changing exhibitions. The building by Ōe Tadasu has a tea room, shop, and café.
